The Toe of God
The Toe of God is a huge slab of green and red marble in the mid west corner of the world. Also known as the “Marble Monolith” the Toe of God is artificially made out of a mosaic of green and red marble, seamlessly melded together. It gained its name because it looks like a giant monstrous toe, broken off an enormous, inhuman foot. The toenail at the edge of the rock looks more like a claw than a toenail, and was recently discovered to be cracked by the great explorer Gilbert.
The Toe seems untouched by time, but judging by its surroundings it is eons old. Its base is buried deep into the ground, suggesting that it may have been dropped from somewhere. Over the years it has gained religious significance, and many pilgrims come to pray at the rock, leaving so many gifts at its feet that it is now semi-buried in a mountain of them. Yet most orders do not consider the Toe of God an official religious place, and no single church or organization has staked claim over it.
Looking at the Toe of God in the right angle through a telescope while moving reveals that the seemingly random mosaic of red and green marble that it is made of actually creates a scale-mail pattern.
The Toe of God is clearly artificially made by very powerful magic, and its lasting magical aura is so powerful that sleeping in its shadow is detrimental to healthy rest (as documented by Grand Cleric Janus the Wizen).
